The CrossFit Movement

CrossFit has skyrocketed as a new and exciting way to exercise!
CrossFit is all about boosting individuals strength and conditioning in an exciting, social and supportive communal environment. CrossFit focus particularly on three exercise programs, which have been specifically chosen to suit the greatest pool of people in today's society. From newbies to absolute gym junkies, CrossFit provides high intensity aerobic exercises, repetitive body weight lifting exercises and heavy weight lifting exercises.

So what makes CrossFit different from everyone else? Why is everyone turning to CrossFit instead of going to the customary and traditional gym? On face value, it is quite easy to observe that the good old gym does provide the SAME if not SIMILAR workout facilities, programs and support as CrossFit, BUT, what differentiates CrossFit from the gym is the fact they amplify the basic workout facilities, programs and support in their workout environment.

In order to sufficiently communicate HOW exactly CrossFit amplifies the conventional workout, reviewing the CrossFit ethic and morale instilled in their gyms seriously illustrates why this new workout environment has grown popular and fast! CrossFit is all about "constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement" workouts that focus on functional movements aiming to grow and develop individual's ability, agility, stamina and strength through loyal support and encouragement from enthusiastic CrossFit trainers. The heart of CrossFit is all about motivating individuals "to move large loads over long distances, and to do so quickly".

Greg Glassman, one of the founder's of CrossFit, said his motivation to create such a unique and exillerating workout regime was all based on establishing a "sport of fitness". Greg Glassman thouroughly enjoyed mixing sport with his personal workouts, and realised the greater good this could bring if he provided the opportunity to others. Greg Glassman said "harnessing the natural camaraderie, competition, and fun of sport or game yields an intensity that cannot be matched by other means."
